Last week we met the wife of the builder out at a plumbing supply store about twenty minutes away.\u00a0 Sonia is Chuck’s partner in business.\u00a0 He takes care of the outside and she handles the stuff on the inside.\u00a0 We wanted to start the process of picking out sinks and fixtures.\u00a0 It’s time to start the plumbing and electrical rough ins so we need to start making these decisions.<\/p>\n
The way it works is that the builder has standard equipment that they supply.\u00a0 It’s pretty nice, but it may not be exactly what you want, so they give you the option to choose other stuff.\u00a0 If you end up going cheaper (yeah right!) then you save a little money.\u00a0 If you end up going more expensive then they let you know how much you’re over and you pay the difference.\u00a0 I think\u00a0that we may go over a little.\u00a0 Apparently the finish we chose for most of the fixtures saves us a little money.\u00a0 We added some options that will cost us some money too though.\u00a0 I get the sense that we went into the overage zone.<\/p>\n
Last weekend we armed the boys with their tablets and a couple of lawn chairs and ventured out to\u00a0meet her again but at the lot this time.\u00a0 We went to plan out the placement and numbers of outlets as well as placement, numbers, and types of lights and\/or ceiling fans.\u00a0 I suspected we’d be there for an\u00a0hour …\u00a0maybe an hour and a half.\u00a0 It turned out to be\u00a0a little more than three\u00a0hours.\u00a0 It was getting dark when we left.\u00a0 This sort of thing requires a lot more time and thought than I realized.<\/p>\n
When you have the option to place things like that anywhere\u00a0that you’d like then\u00a0the decisions can take a while.\u00a0 Thank goodness we had her along.\u00a0 She came up with a lot of suggestions and ideas that we hadn’t even considered.\u00a0 We contributed a few ideas of our own too, like outlets under all of the front windows in case we want to plug in electric candles at Christmas and a couple of outlets in the eaves for Christmas lights.\u00a0 Next up, kitchen design!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
