We hate sticking around this apartment if we don’t have to.\u00a0 We really don’t like it here very much.\u00a0 So, most weekends we try to find things to do that will get us out of here.\u00a0 Sometimes the things that get us out of here are the typical errands that families need to do all the time like\u00a0shopping and\u00a0… well, shopping.\u00a0 Allison did a little research on any events that might be taking place this weekend and she found a couple.\u00a0 She’s pretty darned good at that.<\/p>\n

There’s a place that we’ve been to a couple of times called the Carolina Aviation Museum<\/a>.\u00a0 Apparently Santa was supposed to climb out of a little airplane there and spend some time with kids.<\/p>\n

It turns out that Santa had a back injury that kept him out of the plane, and Ben was too shy to talk to him, but Noah did.\u00a0\u00a0Even though Ben was too shy to talk to Santa, he sure wasn’t too shy to climb in his airplane<\/p>\n

This place is pretty cool.\u00a0 It’s mostly built around the actual plane from US Airways Flight 1549<\/a>.\u00a0 It’s a big hanger with the Airbus as the central exhibit and lots of other planes surrounding it.\u00a0 There are also a couple of larger historical planes parked outside the hanger on the tarmac.\u00a0 This is actually part of Charlotte International Airport so the museum is apparently constantly fighting with TSA to keep the outside display open.\u00a0 Not only did they have the usual displays and Santa, but they also had an area for the boys to color some little, crafty airplanes and to make a homemade compass.\u00a0 Fun was had by all.<\/p>\n

After a few hours at the museum we made a necessary Sam’s Club run.\u00a0 With our wallets a bit lighter and the back of the car weighted down we headed back to the apartment.\u00a0 It would only be a short stay though … just long enough to drop off the perishables.\u00a0 We were hungry and there were more festivities to participate in.<\/p>\n

We headed off to T-Bones on the Lake <\/a>for dinner.\u00a0 We got seated at a table by the window.\u00a0 T-Bones has it’s own little marina, and the annual Lake Wylie boat parade was set to start at dark.\u00a0 Noah got to see Santa yet again, and Ben was too scared to talk to him … yet again.\u00a0 They were even giving away little stuffed animals, which was a nice touch.<\/p>\n

The boat parade was pretty fun.\u00a0 Ben liked all of\u00a0the lights on the boats, and Noah actually saw a couple of friends from school.\u00a0 We let him go off with them a couple of times.\u00a0 He’s growing up … which sucks … but is pretty cool too.<\/p>\n

After the boat show we still weren’t quite ready to head home … Ice Cream!\u00a0 Our go to ice cream store is Bruster’s<\/a>.\u00a0 They have bunches of flavors standard plus loads of seasonal flavors.\u00a0 When we first got there Noah was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the flavor he was looking forward to.\u00a0 He got over it pretty quickly though.\u00a0 Ben is never disappointed since his favorite, the only flavor he’ll eat as a matter of fact, is “bunilla”.<\/p>\n

It was a fun day, but it was a long day.\u00a0 Everyone slept pretty well Saturday night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
